19 Best Spring Travel Dresses for 2026

Traveling in spring is an ideal time to wear cute dresses when visiting warm places like Southern Europe and California. I love packing dresses for my spring trips to wear on days spent exploring cities, frolicking through flower fields, and going to the beach.

When it comes to spring travel dresses, you can go with the classic floral, typical pastel colors, or something more out of the box, like denim. Whichever you choose, ensure it’s comfortable and practical for your destination.

I’ve compiled a list of some of the best spring travel dresses from my favorite brands for your 2026 spring travels!

What Makes a Good Spring Travel Dress?

  • Comfortable: My number one requirement for travel dresses, and clothing in general, is comfort. For me, this means both physically (soft, fits well, easy to walk in) and mentally (I feel good in it, I like the way it looks on me, it doesn’t draw unwanted attention). Whatever comfort means to you, find dresses that fit your definition.

  • Walkable: I love a maxi dress, but they aren’t always easy to walk in for miles and miles. Finding a dress that you can walk easily in is key to a good spring travel dress. Whether that means a mini/midi dress, flowy skirt, leg slit, etc., travel dresses must be walkable.

  • Cute: Now, this is one of my personal requirements because I want to look good when I travel and take photos in my dresses. Cute and practical can absolutely go together, as you’ll see in this list.

  • Wrinkle-proof: I’ll be the first to say this is not one of my own requirements when I travel. I’m happy to hang up a dress in the bathroom while I shower to steam it, or just wear it wrinkled and let the wrinkles relax throughout the day. However, if wrinkle-proof is important to you, I included an entire “packable spring travel dresses” section in this guide.

  • Pockets: A dress with pockets is always a bonus in a world where women’s clothing seldom has pockets. It’s convenient for stuffing away a receipt or ticket stubs, though some destinations require more vigilance about pick-pocketing.

Quick Picks: Spring Dresses for Travel

Best Spring Dresses for Warm Destinations

Spring weather varies drastically depending on which destination you’re visiting. Even just in California, spring weather can mean hot beach days on the southern coast or wintry snow trips in the Eastern Sierra mountains.

As a lover of warm and beachy destinations, I’ve curated a list of dresses that would best suit a spring trip somewhere warm like the Caribbean, Hawaii, or Southern California.

Jaelyn Dress — Reformation ($248)

While my favorite style, the Juliette Dress, seems to no longer be sold, the Jaelyn dress is very similar. It has thin tie-straps and a flowy skirt, which makes it comfortable for walking around in while exploring a new town. The Bliss print is a floral, but more subtle since it’s monochrome.

Dresses from Reformation

Balia Dress — Reformation ($278)

A sleeveless linen dress is perfect for a spring European trip. I’d wear this one in Italy or Greece. The butter yellow color is suited well for spring, but it also comes in other colors.

The back smocking gives the dress some nice stretch — something linen dresses don’t often have. As another bonus, it has pockets!

Sydney Smocked Midi Dress — Abercrombie ($120)

Abercrombie is one of my favorite places to get dresses and travel clothes in general. They make quality clothing that’s true to size and lasts through dozens of wears and washes (truly, I wear my Abercrombie stuff over and over).

This smocked dress has plenty of stretch in the bodice and a flowy skirt for ultimate comfort throughout the day. It can wrinkle after being packed in a suitcase, so plan to steam/iron before you wear it.

Dresses from Abercrombie

Scoopneck Flowy Mini Dress — Abercrombie ($110)

This cute mini dress comes in a range of colors or patterns, including denim! It has a nice lined texture down the front to elevate it from a basic, plain dress. The soft 100% cotton fabric makes it comfy to wear, and pockets add convenience.

You could easily wear this over a swimsuit as you head to the beach or for a day on a boat. It’s a versatile dress that can be worn throughout both spring and summer.

Emilia Dress — Sabo Skirt ($300)

If you want to splurge, Zaco by Sabo Skirt has some of my favorite dresses of all time. They have such a unique, eye-catching look with wavy, contrast edges and bold patterns.

The Emilia Dress is 100% cotton with padded, wire cups for extra support and lift, corset ties on either side, and an a-line skirt. I love the vintage green color of the Heritage print for spring.

Best Packable Spring Travel Dresses

We all love dresses that you can shove into your backpack without the fear of wrinkles. I consider wrinkles pretty much inevitable with how tightly I fill my compression packing cubes, but I also love linen and cotton, which wrinkle easily.

These dresses are all made of fabrics that don’t tend to wrinkle and can withstand being packed into your suitcase or backpack.

YPB sculptLUX Mini Dress — Abercrombie ($75)

A workout dress disguised as a regular spring mini dress is ideal for outdoorsy, adventurous spring travel. You can still look cute and feminine while walking, hiking, or being active!

Plus, it has built-in shorts with a phone pocket and a design that makes it easy to pull down the shorts without having to take the whole thing off each time you use the restroom.

YPB studioFLEX Cami Mini Dress — Abercrombie ($85)

This is another workout dress that looks like a regular day dress but stretches with you during activities. It has built-in shorts with a phone pocket and an easy pull-down style, making it convenient for all-day travel.

The cute v-neck with an empire waist feels so early 2000s (kind of like the dress from 13 Going on 30), while still being modern and stylish for today. It comes in a gorgeous sky blue color that is just pastel enough for spring, but bright enough to wear through summer.

Ace Active Dress — Beyond Yoga ($128)

My favorite workout apparel is all from Beyond Yoga. Their clothing is stretchy, soft, and so comfortable! This active dress has all the elements of their nice workout clothes while looking like a sporty spring dress.

It has built-in shorts with pockets, a built-in bra, wide cross-straps, a high neckline, and a flirty, twirly skirt. Like the Abercrombie active dresses, this one also has an easy-on/off shorts design, making it easy to wear on-the-go for travel.

Featherweight At The Ready Midi Dress — Beyond Yoga ($138)

Spacedye is the best fabric at Beyond Yoga in my opinion because of how buttery soft and ultra stretchy it is. This is a Spacedye midi dress with moisture-wicking, so you can sweat without worry on hot spring days as you explore.

It also has pockets, packs well without wrinkling, and seamlessly transitions from day to night. Although the navy and black colors it comes it don’t scream spring; they’re perfect for a low-key spring dinner style.

Transcend Maxi Dress — Athleta ($110)

For a more fitted dress style that is still comfortable for all-day wear, the Transcend dress from Athleta checks all the boxes. It’s a lightweight, stretchy, sweat-wicking material with adjustable straps, rouching detail on either side of the waist, and a leg slit for unrestricted walking.

Transcend Scoop Dress — Athleta ($129)

This is the mini version of the Transcend Maxi Dress, featuring built-in shorts with side pockets, the same stretchy, sweat-wicking material, a built-in bra for extra support, and convenient pull-down shorts.

Best Affordable Spring Travel Dresses Under $100

Cute, practical, and good quality spring travel dresses don’t have to be expensive! More expensive does not always mean better quality, and budget doesn’t always mean crappy.

While $100 isn’t quite within “budget” range, some of these dresses are priced as low as $45–50 before sales.

Deep Down Halter Mini Dress — Fortunate One ($79)

This flowy, flirty halter dress is easy to throw on for dinner after a day at the beach. It would look incredible for a trip to Hawaii, the Caribbean, or another beachy destination that is hot in the spring.

Being a lightweight mini dress, it doesn’t take up much space in your suitcase, leaving room for even more dresses!

Dress from Fortunate One

Fit & Flare Sleeveless Midi Dress — Old Navy ($50)

The flattering cut of this dress and soft fabric will make you feel like a million bucks while saving you money. It has a nice square neck and a-line skirt, paired with smocking on most of the color ways for some stretch.

Loveliest Looks Tie-Strap Midi Dress — Lulus ($79)

The beautiful, textured floral pattern on this dress is a subtle spring style, and the silver threads add a lovely hint of shimmer.

It has a flowy skirt with a slit, making it easy to walk around in without any restriction around your legs. The pink is pretty for spring, though it comes in a range of colors.

Twist And Turns Mini Dress — Fortunate One ($85)

Looking for a long-sleeved spring travel dress? The Twist and Turns mini dress has a relaxed fit with lettuce-hem sleeves, a flowy skirt, and a V-neck with a tie. The dusty sage color is perfect for a European spring getaway or a visit to flower fields in California.

It would also be a great swim cover-up to throw on before or after going to the beach, transitioning seamlessly into a classy dinner outfit.

Castilla Ruffled Long Sleeve Mini Dress — Lulus ($69)

Another long-sleeved mini dress, this one from Lulus, is a beautiful ivory color with ruffle details along the V-neck and around the cute cutouts on either side of the waist. The sleeves have elastic at the ends, creating a cute bubble-sleeve look.

This dress doesn’t have any stretch and is designed to be fitted at the waist, so it may not be as comfortable for a full day of exploring as other dresses. It was just too cute, I had to include it!

Used To Know You Midi Dress — Hello Molly ($79)

You can’t go wrong with a cute and simple dress like this one, with thin straps, buttons down the front, large pockets, and an A-line skirt. The smocked back gives it some stretch, and the adjustable straps give it a custom fit.

Best for smaller chests, as there’s not much space in the top, and the fabric itself is not stretchy.

Fit & Flare Cami Mini Dress – Old Navy ($45)

The cutest, most affordable staple dress for spring travel! It has wide straps, a sweetheart neckline, a flowy skirt, and a smocked back for a truly comfortable and flattering style.

It also has pockets — always a major bonus for dresses. It comes in a range of colors and fabrics to choose from, like linen, denim, and 100% cotton. Cute and comfortable for all-day exploring on a hot spring day.

Angelika Sleeveless Midi Dress — Lulus ($69)

I love the illustrative blue floral print on this beige midi dress. It has all the features of a great travel dress: pockets, a flowy skirt (with a slit), adjustable straps, and a smocked back for stretch.

How to Style a Spring Dress for Travel

  • Dressed up/down: The great thing about dresses is that they can easily be dressed up with heels and a cute bag or dressed down with some sneakers and a backpack.

  • In cold weather: Pair your dress with fleece-lined tights and a denim jacket if the weather hasn’t warmed up enough to wear a dress on its own at your destination.

  • Accessories: A plain dress can easily be styled up with accessories like a belt, jewelry, sunglasses, a hat, a shawl, or a jacket. For a sporty look and practicality, a belt bag can be worn diagonally across your chest.

  • Nipple Covers: I swear by CAKES in place of a bra. They don’t provide support, but they do cover nipples extremely well. The grippy design avoids the use of adhesives, and they’re super easy to wash and rewear. I’ve worn mine probably more than 200x over the last few years and still love them.

FAQs

How many dresses to pack for a 7-day spring trip?

I usually only pack 2–3 dresses for week-long spring trips — usually a midi and a mini dress. Most days, I will wear flowy pants and a tank top, so I don’t need to pack tons of dresses.

If you plan to wear dresses every day on your spring trip, then 3–5 would be ideal.

What fabrics don’t wrinkle for travel?

Most synthetic fabrics, like polyester and nylon, are designed to be smooth and wrinkle-proof. Natural fabrics like 100% cotton and linen can wrinkle easily, though steaming and ironing will take the wrinkles right out.

Can I wear maxi dresses for spring travel?

Absolutely! Maxi dresses can be a bit more cumbersome to wear on long days of exploring. The best maxi dresses for spring travel should not be so long that you’re tripping over the bottom or dragging it along the ground.

Look for maxi dresses with a leg slit (or two) to give your legs/feet somewhere to go as you walk to help avoid tripping. You can also find plenty of midi dresses that reach your ankles but don’t touch the ground. That would be my choice of a long dress!

How to pack a long dress for travel?

You can roll or fold your long dress, then put it in a compression packing cube to maximize the space in your suitcase.

If you have a special dress, like a wedding dress or bridesmaids' dress, a dress bag rolled or folded up with the dress inside may be a better option. That’s what I did with my wedding dress!
