20+ Best Restaurants in Corfu, Greece

Published June 2022 | Updated June 2025

My standards for what a good meal tastes like have grown exponentially since I first visited Corfu and experienced the cuisine there.

I’ve never been one to travel to a specific place for the food, and I can hardly call myself a foodie with all the dishes I don’t eat as a pescatarian.

The best restaurants in Corfu are pretty much whichever ones you’re closest to! It’s easy to find fresh, quality dishes at almost every restaurant around the island.

In addition to being high quality and delicious, the restaurants are also affordable compared to other places I’ve lived and visited. You’ll never find this level of quality for this price in California.

On my flight to the stopover in London, a nice couple in the aisle across from me asked where I was headed. When I told them “Corfu,” their eyes lit up, and they emphatically told me about how the best food they’ve ever eaten was in Corfu.

When I asked if they had any suggestions about things to do, they said, “EAT! Eat everything!”

So we did! And the rest is…well, in this blog post!

Before You Go

One important thing you should know about Corfu (and most Mediterranean countries) is that service is not about quickly getting you in and out. Eating a meal is an experience to be enjoyed with the people you’re with!

Plan at least one hour (ideally 2-3) for each sit-down meal. We enjoy the slower service as it gives us time to relax, talk about our day, and plan for the next one.

Most places typically bring out some bread or another small dish for you to eat while you wait for your order. Not all of them do this, though.

Restaurants in Corfu Town

Corfu Town (also called Old Town Corfu, Corfu Old Town, or Old Corfu Town) is the capital of the island of Corfu. The Old Town of Corfu is a UNESCO World Heritage site!

There are many restaurants in Corfu Town, but because this is a more touristy area, some restaurants cater to tourists, which typically means higher prices and less-tasty food.

Check reviews before getting drawn into a restaurant! Some of the most poorly reviewed restaurants had employees outside trying to entice passersby. Good restaurants don’t need to draw people in from the street.

Diporto

My first ever meal in Corfu was a crisp Greek salad in Old Town Corfu at Diporto. I could not believe how much better it was than any other Greek salad I’ve had.

Diporto has a nice, airy indoor/outdoor seating area inside the tiny restaurant, and it feels like eating at someone’s home! It has authentic, traditional Greek dishes all made with love and is family-run.

The service is friendly, and they are happy to walk you through the menu!

Best Restaurants in Corfu, Greece

σαγράδο (Sagrado)

Sagrado serves unique tapas at affordable prices in a charming alleyway shared with other restaurants, all with outdoor seating and string lights. The owner/servers are friendly, and the service is fast.

Vegan and vegetarian options are abundant on the menu — they even have their own section.

I had the vegan bao, made with mushrooms, and the flavorful beet and arugula salad during our first trip. On a second trip back to the island, we ate here again, and I was thrilled to see the bao still on the menu!

The menu is tapas style, so order to share! Between the two of us, we ordered three dishes and that was more than enough!

Bizou Cafe

If you’re looking for a charming brunch spot in Corfu Town, this is it! We got the avocado sandwich and Greek roll, and both were enjoyable.

It’s tucked away in the streets of Old Town Corfu and has a few tables and chairs in the small alleyway. The menu is 100% vegan with tons of options, but still delicious for non-vegans as well!

The interior of the restaurant is also an antique shop, with unique antiques for sale. There is occasionally live piano music played inside as well.

Kumquat

While walking around Corfu Old Town one morning, we stumbled upon Kumquat, where I got an avocado toast.

It’s a lovely brunch spot with simple, fresh dishes. They also have to-go sandwiches if you’re in a hurry or want a small meal for the road or a picnic.

It’s closer to the modern area of town with chain stores, so if you’re shopping downtown, this is a good place to stop for a quick brunch/lunch.

Favella N°17

Winding, narrow streets in Old Town Corfu lead to a small plaza where you’ll find Favella No.17. It has vibrant bougainvillea adorning the facade and customers sitting outside often have plates of Favella’s famous pancake stacks or giant waffles.

We’ve visited Favella multiple times during our trips to Corfu and enjoy their menu, outdoor seating, and friendly service. I especially love the kitty who happily jumped into my lap after a couple of snaps during our first visit.

They offer both savory and sweet breakfast options, extensive tea offerings, smoothies and juices, and even cocktails/spirits!

Though they shine best at breakfast/brunch, you can eat at Favella No. 17 from morning until midnight.

Restaurants on the East Side

For this guide, the towns on the east side of the island I’m focusing on stretch from Nisaki in the north to Anemomilos, which is just south of Corfu Town. The main towns between these two are Barbati, Ipsos, and Dassia.

Nisaki is where I recommend renting a boat, if you plan to do so. It also has two of the fancier restaurants on this list.

Barbati is about 15 minutes north of Dassia, and we discovered it after driving around just to explore this part of the island. We ended up finding one of our favorite restaurants!

Ipsos is a more touristy area—between Barbati and Dassia—so we only drive through it when traveling between Barbati/Nisaki and Dassia/Corfu Town.

Dassia is where we spent about half our time during our first trip to Corfu, since we stayed there for most of the trip. It feels very local and has one main road dotted with some incredible restaurants.

Terra Corfiata (Nisaki)

Up in the hills of Nisaki, overlooking the hillside and sea, is Terra Corfiata. This restaurant opened in 2024 and has quickly become one of the best-reviewed restaurants on the island.

The food is exceptional, there’s seating both indoors and outdoors, and the views are stunning.

We were recommended Terra Corfiata by the owners of Coffee Lovers, because one of their brothers is the owner! We collaborated with him to take some photos of the dishes and the restaurant while we were there.

Our meal was phenomenal, from the appetizers to the dessert. It’s a lovely spot for a date night or a nice dinner out during your Corfu trip.

Oliva (Nisaki)

On our second visit to the island, we had plans to eat at Oliva with our local friends, but unfortunately had to cancel due to stormy weather (the seating is all outdoors).

I’m still including it on this list as we will most definitely eat here on our next visit! It’s definitely a more expensive spot, perfect for special occasions.

We’ve been told it’s some of the best food on the island and a favorite for a fancy dinner out. The large outdoor dining area has multiple levels with sweeping views of the sea, and parts of it are under a beautiful pergola.

Coffee Lovers (Barbati)

We visited Coffee Lovers three or four times during our trip because of the food, but also because of the owners, Maria and Fiorella! They were so lovely and had just opened Coffee Lovers a few months before we visited in June 2021.

Their food reminds me so much of a nice, coastal Californian cafe with gorgeous presentation and yummy food. During our multiple visits, I had a fancy avocado toast with smoked salmon; a fresh caprese salad; toast with pesto, mushrooms, greens, and tomatoes; and a sweet and refreshing smoothie!

If you visit, please tell Maria and Fiorella you heard about it from me! :)

Castello (Dassia)

This place has the usual dishes you can expect to find at most restaurants in Corfu and is on the main road in Dassia. We ate here a few times during our trip for both lunch and dinner! The service was friendly and professional, and the food was excellent.

This was the first place I tried Sagnaki, which is Greek fried cheese. It’s halloumi (or sometimes feta) served in a cast iron pan with honey, olive oil, and sesame seeds. Delicious! I also had my first Greek beer here!

Best Restaurants in Corfu, Greece

Ta Diktia (Dassia)

Ta Diktia is one of the few restaurants with ocean views in this area. There are just a few others along this stretch of coast in Dassia, near the resorts and beach hotels.

I didn’t expect a whole lot from a restaurant in a more touristy area, but I was pleasantly surprised! I got a salmon penne pasta dish and I still look back at the photo of it years later, thinking about how good it was.

There’s a full bar with unique cocktails as well if you just want a cool place to get some drinks and take in the sea views!

Etrusco (Dassia)

We have not dined at Etrusco yet, but it couldn’t be left off this list! Etrusco has won Greece’s Best Restaurant by Athinorama magazine every year since 2013.

The fruits and vegetables in each dish are harvested from the garden on the restaurant’s property. Their focus on simple and fresh flavors is apparent throughout the menus, which include two set menus and one á la carte menu.

This guide previously incorrectly stated that Etrusco had a Michelin star. While Etrusco does not have a Michelin star, the chef at Etrusco, Ettore Botrini, has been awarded a Michelin star for his other restaurant, Botrini’s, in Athens.

Akos Farm (Dassia)

Akos Farm is another small, family-owned restaurant along the main road in Dassia. It has nice outdoor seating and serves fresh, authentic dishes in generous portions.

They have plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, including spanakopita, baked feta cheese with roasted tomatoes, and pizza and pasta. If you’re in Dassia, this is the best restaurant for lunch or dinner!

The reviews speak for themselves, with one of the highest ratings in Dassia on Google Maps.

Mikri Garitsa (Anemomilos)

On our recent trip to the island, we stayed south of Corfu Town in Anemomilos. Though we had been before, staying here gave us the chance to explore it a bit more.

We intended to try as many restaurants in this area as possible, while also still trying new ones all around the island, but ended up eating at Mikri Garitsa twice because it was so good.

The service is friendly and treats you like family. The food is traditional, with a large selection of dishes for both appetizers and main courses.

The seating area for restaurants in this area is in a long park that runs parallel to the shops and houses, with a small street separating the buildings from the park.

We enjoyed the comforting meals here, which were often accompanied by the sweet local cats that roam the park looking for any dropped food or tourists who will share their dinner.

Mesogeios (Anemomilos)

Another friendly, family-run restaurant in Anemomilos is Mesogeios. It’s just down the street from Mikri Garitsa, with the seating in the same outdoor park area.

Their extensive menu has a wide selection of meat and seafood dishes as mains, but the vegetarian salads and appetizers are filling enough for a full meal!

The stuffed mushrooms are flavorful and are surrounded by a creamy, buttery sauce. Everything we had at Meogeios was delicious!

Restaurants on the West Side

The west side of the island tends to be more touristy with larger crowds, resorts, and attractions. It also has the best beaches!

Paleokastritsa is the main and most popular town on this side of the island. Sidari is another town near the northwestern tip of the island, with a few of the main attractions on the island.

More touristy often correlates to lower quality restaurants. While there definitely are some poorly rated, overpriced restaurants near the hotels, the best salmon tartare I’ve ever had was in Paleokastritsa.

Katarina’s Taverna (Sidari)

After a long day driving around the west side and swimming through the Canal d’Amour, we found Katarina’s Taverna in Sidari.

We were so hungry after a day of exploring, swimming, and hiking that we ordered way more food than we could finish. The menu was slightly different from other restaurants we had been to, which was a nice surprise since it’s another traditional taverna.

Katarina’s Taverna has the feeling of being on someone's patio and getting served their homemade meals. The food is homemade and fresh, much like the other restaurants on this list.

If you’re in Sidari visiting Canal d’Amour or checking out Cape Drastis, Katarina’s is the perfect place for recharging and filling up on good food.

Best Restaurants in Corfu, Greece

La Grotta (Paleokastritsa)

One of the coolest spots in Corfu is La Grotta. It’s a beach bar built on the side of a cliff with a diving board into the sea. It’s a fun place to spend a couple of hours swimming and soaking up the sun on the rocks or beach chairs.

La Grotta is a major tourist attraction and gets packed on summer afternoons. If you visit earlier in the day, it tends to be less crowded. The bar opens at 10 AM, but we’ve been able to go down to the water earlier than that since the gate at the top was unlocked.

You can get drinks and sit at the tables above while you watch people jump off the diving board into the ocean below, or find a beach chair or rock to lie out and relax.

The bar also has some small bites like sandwiches and salads, but being a tourist spot, they’re apparently not great. Stick to the overpriced drinks or just enjoy the sea and the diving board!

Tango_Cafe Bar (Paleokastritsa)

From La Grotta, head back up the stairs to street level and walk down the street to Tango Cafe Bar. This restaurant has a light and fresh brunch menu and serves quality coffee.

The interior is decorated elegantly with tropical decor, but the patio is the best place to sit. It has gorgeous views of Paleokastritsa Bay from above, as well as the nearby neighborhoods.

There is not a dedicated parking lot for Tango, but you can likely find street parking in the morning. Afternoons would be much more difficult to park, so get here early!

Flavor (Paleokastritsa)

The food at Flavor is exceptional! It’s a small restaurant tucked away down a side street and looks unassuming. I found it while searching for well-reviewed restaurants in the area after a day at La Grotta.

We ended up coming here twice because I couldn’t stop thinking about the food after the first visit. I got the salmon tartare twice, and it’s soft, flavorful, and fresh.

The service can be very slow, sometimes taking an hour between each course. Though it may be a long dinner, the food is worth the wait.

Although it was open for lunch during our first trip in 2021, we visited again in 2024 to find it closed during the day and only open in the evenings for dinner. If you’re in Paleokastritsa looking for a tasty dinner, this is the place!

Restaurants in Central Corfu

Some of the best restaurants in Corfu are the ones far from major towns, in the center of the island, away from the coast.

We’ve discovered some gems while exploring the areas less traveled in Corfu. Though there are only a few restaurants on this list in central Corfu, I hope to find more on future trips.

Lucciola Garden (Sgombou)

The seating at Lucciola Garden is in a lovely courtyard surrounded by trees and greenery, hidden from the street. The tables are far apart from each other, with charming, unique chairs.

We visited on our first trip to Corfu, but haven’t made it back on subsequent visits. Not for any reason other than there are so many restaurants to visit, we try not to go back to the same ones (though we still do).

I got the stuffed mushrooms and sourdough with olive oil/dip starter and loved it! The fresh, homemade dishes served in a courtyard surrounded by nature make a meal at Lucciola Garden a calming and enjoyable experience.

Like many of the restaurants around Corfu, this one had a local kitty visiting the tables to say hello to customers as they dined. It was so sweet!

George & Elena’s (Mattheos)

If you take a tour of the Governor’s Olive Mill (highly recommend!!) in Mattheos, head to the center of town to dine at one of the restaurants. We picked George & Elena’s, but there are other well-reviewed restaurants in this area too!

George & Elena’s was one of the most charming experiences, as we were the only ones there. The food is served by both George and Elena, who are so kind and caring. It’s authentic, fresh, and made with love.

There are a few friendly kitties that hang around and lie next to the tables on the covered outdoor patio.

H.M. Bread & Coffee (Kynopiastes)

If you’re staying on the east side of Corfu (Corfu Town, Dassia, Barbati, etc.), then you will likely pass H.M. Bread & Coffee on your way to the Governor’s Olive Mill. It’s on the side of a small road and next to a well-stocked pharmacy.

This cafe serves all kinds of coffee and tea, as well as baked goods. The staff is friendly and the coffee is delicious! There’s also a bathroom here, which is good to note when you’re making the long-ish drive from the east side to the olive mill.

It’s the ideal stop for some coffee, a treat, and a bathroom break if you’re driving this route.

Apomero (Giannades)

Apomero is a traditional Corfu restaurant in the middle of farmland, slightly north and far west of Corfu Town. It’s considered to be in Gianades, but it is on the outskirts far from the center of the town.

This restaurant is 15 minutes away (13 km / 8 miles) from Agios Spyridon Beach in Paleokastritsa and, in my opinion, is worth the extra driving time (30 minutes round trip).

This area of Corfu is much less traveled and gives you insight into a different side of Corfu — one of farms, large plots of lush land, and a peacefulness you won’t find on the crowded beaches of Paleokastritsa in summer.

Apomero has a large outdoor patio with trees and other plants surrounding it. There are, of course, local kitties who will come up if you call them over.

Their menu is traditional Greek food with lots of meat dishes, some seafood, and one main vegetarian dish. There are plenty of vegetarian appetizers, like Greek salad, Saganaki, grilled mushrooms, and salads.
